VOICE YOUR OPINION: HGH Discussion - 2013 MLB Hall of Fame Candidates

Post by xtra-innings on Tue Aug 14, 2012 12:51 am

In 2013, the BBWAA will have to decide who, from the HGH-era in baseball, gets into the HOF and who does not. I included names of former players suspected of using HGH, who will be on the 2013 ballot.

Here's your chance to sound off on whether you think they deserve induction into the hallowed grounds of Cooperstown or remain on the "outside looking in".

This is a no-holds-barred topic and look forward to some of the debates/posts this will generate.

The controversial headline names on the 2013 MLB Hall of Fame ballot are:

1. Barry Bonds
2. Mark McGwire
3. Rafael Palmiero
4. Sammy Sosa
5. Roger Clemens
6. Curt Schilling

Ding...Ding...Ding...Let the debates begin...

Dont forget Biggio & Piazza.

Id take both of them. Piazza is one of the best, if not THE best, catcher of his time. Biggio has 3000+ hits

If one doesn't get in... then none of them should get in.

And I am perfectly fine with none of them getting in.

If I had to pick one of them I would like to see get in... it would be Biggio. I always liked him as a player!

Hope that makes sense.

Stupid Comp! I just typed a ton and lost it all!!!!!!

Restart: It is a tough call because you can argue either way honestly. I think in the end that if you tested positive then you should not be allowed in. I also think if your name has been brought up multiple times then you should not get it. I get that people could make stuff up but if multiple people are talking then obviously you screwed up. Don't give anyone a reason to talk bad about you or even make stuff up about you. This is why I loved Biggio since he started in the MLB and why I think he deserves the HOF on the first ballot.

Biggio gave his all on the field each game, he hustled which most do not nowadays, he usually smiled, he was a good player, nice guy, and did not attract media attention in a negative way. Biggio played the game the the way it should be played and I believe he is well deserving plus his name was never mentioned.

Piazza is a guy who was one of the better hitting catchers of all time. He hit with power, he had a good average over .300, and he did not make many waves in the public eye (Roger Clemens anyone?) His name has been brought up by some analysts but has not been implicated that I have heard.

As a big Astros and Biggio fan I plan on attending the HOF induction as well as hoping that Biggio signs.

Biggio will get in. I loved that guy as a player, he was one of the best I have had the privilege of watching when I was younger, along with Piazza, both are 1st ballot in my opinion. With Sammy Sosa being my favorite player of all time, no matter the results of his failed drug test in 2003 or the corked bat incident, of course I would be biased towards letting him in. Problem is if he gets in, door opens for everyone else. So as much as I love Sosa and the memories of watching him, I would say Biggio and Piazza next year.

Id like to see Clemens too. Greatest pitcher of his era. Even if he used steroids at a period during his career...I think it probably extended his career but he was already a HOFer before that in my opinion.

Nah coach, if I was going for the "lame" vote then I would have said...

Mark McGwire

In all honesty, I want to see Pete Rose inducted before he dies.

I agree!

My guess is at best they treat Pete the way they treated Santo. If Rose ever gets in at all, it'll be posthumously.

I don't think any of the accused PED users (Bonds, McGwire, Palmeiro, Sosa, Clemens) stands a chance first time around. Never heard anything credible towards Biggio, Piazza or Schilling, so they're different cases. I think Bonds and Clemens get the most votes of the PED users and they both come in under 50%. The other 3 don't stand a chance this time around and I'll be surprised if they get 20%. I think Piazza is a first ballot lock as the best offensive catcher of all time. I'm on the fence for Biggio as a first timer. I guess he just sneaks in or just misses (76 to 72%) but I go with just missing. I think Schilling may eventually get in but definitely not first time. I give him 64% of the vote.
