Here are some non signed baseball memorbilia (NEW PICS ADDED)

Post by nsucolonel on Fri Dec 23, 2011 5:42 pm

First up is my dixie premium set from the 1930's. One is signed by Bob Feller when I had dinner with him at a banquit.

Here is on of my 1930's match books. I do have a Mel Ott but dont have a scan up yet:

1903 New York Highlander Stock Certificate unused (Yankee's)
This is a beautifully engraved unissued stock certificate from the inception of the New York Yankees from the very start of their American League franchise in New York City in 1903 when they were originally named the “Highlanders.” The 11 X 8.5 certificate from the Greater New York Baseball Association dated “190X” was prepared for the issuance of an unspecified number of $100 shares for the raising of $100,000 of capital stock for the establishment of the Highlanders originally named in recognition of their ballpark called “Hilltop Park,” that was hastily built on a site that was one of the highest points in Manhattan. Ten years later when the team moved to share the Polo Grounds with the New York Giants they were officially renamed the “Yankees” and began their ascent towards becoming the greatest dynasty in sports history. The certificate displays beautiful ornate borders and vignette of allegorical women leaning on a shield featuring an American eagle upon its crest. It is framed with two-sided glass to show the fancy verso as well. This is an incredible relic from the birth of baseball’s most fabled franchise.

This is another Yankee Certificate from the 1940's

Round 2

This from Jackie first world series:

Enjoy!!!

I will post more once I unpack from moving.

Ill keep them comming. Im in the prossess of moving into my new home so everything is packed up. It was a great experince sitting down at dinner with him. He was truely a great baseball player but even a greater American. Also at the table next to us was Tommy Lasorda, Randy Bush (who is a friend of mine), Mell Parnell, Jerry Coleman, Dom Dimaggioand a few others. It was a great night. I was in heaven.

Randy Bush... as in the Cubs assistant General Manager?

He seemed like a cool guy when I got his graph in front of Wrigley the same day I got Theo.

He was my private hitting coach in high school. Then he coached against me in college. I played for Nicholls State niversity and he coached University of New Orleans. Them when I was with the New Orleans Zephyrs we were playing the Iowa Cubs and he was one of the coachs. He told me any time I want to go to a cubs game to give him a call and I can go sit in the sweet with him and go in the looker room before and after the game. Never had time to plan a trip yet though.

Very cool! One item I have wanted for many many years is an old Chicago Cubs stock certificate. They are quite hard to come across. I think I have only seen 2 in my lifetime. If you do happen to come across please let me know asap.

Thanks for sharing!

Randy Bush was cool and very approachable. Normally when people try to get stuff signed at the Cubs Convention, it is a mob scene. However, in 2009 he was doing a seminar and like 10 minutes before, I asked one of the people if they saw Randy Bush, he was just standing there. So he was brought out and signed my Wheaties Box. Really cool thing.
