Printing Larger Photos

Post by yankeesjetsfan on Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:13 am

I was wondering where you guys print off photos larger than 8x10? I have a couple of ideas in mind, but need larger photos.

Thanks,

Mike

Costco for the price $5.99 for 16x10

Adorama for the best quality if you have time to wait

Go Costco, its so much cheaper, you avoid paying a shipping price, and the quality is awesome.

Yes... you do have to be a member of Costco to use their photo center.

But with the deals you can get on just about anything you can image (food, electronics, etc)... the membership is well worth it.

I am trying to convince my wife to switch from Sams to Costco!

Membership cost is $50 a year. I can promise you I hav already saved that much in photos alone going through them. I go 2-3 times a week.

I'll have to see if there is a Costco near me. I know there is BJ's by Yankee Stadium. Not exactly a desirable area, but if I go during the day, things should be cool.

Not to hijack but remind me sometime to tell you about my NY trip. Wandering around the neighborhood near Yankee stadium and playing a couple games at The Rucker. Skinny white kid in jeans and timb's crossing people over lol.

Man to be young again

Just throwing it out there as a warning, Costco printed images have faded over time for many people in this hobby. I'm sure it partly depends on how they're stored, but as far as quality goes, Adorama is much higher and I've never heard of a print from them deteriorating.

Like most things, you get what you pay for.

Looks like Adorama and Costco use similar printing supplies (paper, ink, etc).

Although I've never seen what kind of printer Adorama uses, so it could be someones home ink jet for all we know.

I'm sure the fading has to do with how the Costco photos were stored/displayed.

Jim (Bobby Hull's assistant) has been printing photos at Costco for well over a decade... and all of his still looks great.

I still have photos (signed/unsiged) my dad and grandmother took from the 60's-80's. Even they still look fine with no fading. I'm sure even the cheapest technology today is better than what was available 30+ years ago.

It looks like Costoc has teamed up with Photofile...

Just letting people know. I don't care who anyone uses, but Costco prints have a bad reputation on several other boards. I use Adorama for most images and have never had a problem, and the quality and finishes they offer are top of the line.
