The previous Eddie Belfour signing

Post by Silly on Thu Apr 19, 2012 7:00 am

Who here went? Did you notice he inscribed hof 12 on your item? But if you check eBay, one of the two dealers who brought him out are selling his items with hof 11 on it. What gives?

I know I'm not the only one who got hof 12. I saw just about everyone did.

Should be HOF 11.

I already emailed and complained. And posted on FB.

I suggest everyone else complain.

I emailed Dennis Sidler and Jim and Steves.

Sidler responded already... and here is his answer...

"When you are there to hand the player the item I am not sure how I am liable for any mistake."

My follow up email was not in the nicest tone thats for sure!!!

If it was an isolated mistake I would agree but I would venture to say this was a mistake for the ENTIRE signing.

he signed HOF12 for all people who paid. He signed HOF11 for the dealers. Someone had to of known what was going on for the change to occure.

Also, we did not hand the item to the player.

The item was handed to the handler (someone from one of the 2 dealers) they in return handed the item to Belfour and told them what inscription you paid for since there was only 2 available.

Trust me... I mentioned all of that in my second email.

We do not know for sure how many he messed up on... but I did tell him I know of at least 2 more people with multiple items that have the HOF 12 inscription on them instead of HOF 11.

Re: The previous Eddie Belfour signing

Post by Silly on Thu Apr 19, 2012 11:14 am

My email to Dealer:

Good morning,

I am writing you in regards to the autograph signing held previously for Eddie Belfour. It came to my attention today while looking at your ebay store that your items have the HOF11 inscription. When I attended and paid for an inscription I received hof12. This was done on a multi signed piece. Why is my inscription different and incorrect?

I paid for a correct inscription and when I attended the event I handed my item to the helper at the table. That helper then handed my item to Mr. Belfour and told him what inscription I had paid for.

How is this mistake going to be remedied? As I previously stated the item cannot be replaced as it has 10+ autographs on it from various HOF members.

I am very disappointed with this as I have spent countless hours and hundreds of dollars on this item.

Michael Woznicki

Sadly that happens.

Somebody in November told me that a ball for Whitey Ford- they had an inscription for 1961 WS MVP and Ford was about to write down WS MVP 1985.

Mishaps

Post by Pdog on Thu Apr 19, 2012 12:08 pm

I have a Jeremy Roenick puck that I wanted him to inscribe with First Goal and date: 2/14/89. Instead, I got First Goal - Valentine's Day '98. From that moment on, I completely cover every item with post-its, arrows, etc. It's crazy no matter how much you plan it, the athlete will still mess it up or not know themselves at least 75% of the time.

I know my friend didn't have his item labeled and asked Belfour what year he was inducted, and he said, I don't know. 2012?

Like AutoMan said, these things suck when they happen, but happen far too often.

here is another response from Sidsgrahs...

"Mr Belfour seems to feel since he was inducted into the Hall of Fame during the 2011-12 season that either is correct. The HOF year was Eddie's call."

What a total bunch of BS. So athletes can just make up stats and numbers now? According to the Hockey Hall of Fame... he is part of the 2011 class. That is what I want my inscription to write.

I've been in this spot before. Since then, I never trust the handler or player. There are always doing something else (talking on the phone, texting, eating, or shooting the breeze with the handler/player) besides what they are supposed to be doing. I know everyone wants to ask or say something to the player. Some of these guys like Joe Montana and Rod Carew do not give a sh**. They're all business.

We all work hard for our money. I make sure my item is priority #1 and I make sure they have the right pen and inscip before anything. I have dove across my item to make sure. I don't care what the player/handlers thinks of me. I'm there for my autograph, just like they are there to get paid. If they say something I will tell them.

In this case, you guys are their customer. In most cases, the customer is always right..like in this case. I would not buy from these guys anymore since the are acting shaddy. If they don't see some of their regular customers..maybe they will get them message. Expressing on facebook to inform others thinking of going to a future signing would work.

I agree with what you are saying but let me add this.

Each email I sent to the dealer was responded to within 15 minutes. I won't complain any further. I will chalk this up as a lesson learned.

The mistake was acknowledged and apologized for. That is really all I wanted and I did not expect to get that much. Also when Belfour is back it can be adjusted/added to without damaging the integrity of it. He was open to that.

If anyone expects more, or free stuff that ain't gonna happen.

The last thing I am going to say on this is I went to the fb page where I commented earlier and asked why Hof12 to delete my post since my issue is closed. I didn't like that when I went to look I noticed it was already deleted along with the rest of them.
