A little unique piece. This is a 1969 Cubs team signed jersey on a Billy Williams Mitchell & Ness 1969 home flannel. There were a number of M&N jerseys signed at the Cubs reunion show done in 2003, but these jerseys have no more than 18 autographs. This jersey has a total of 31 signatures from the 1969 team with a few that are tough or are now deceased. I'm pretty sure this is one of the most complete team signed jerseys out there.

1969 Cubs Team Signed Banner

While not really apparel or jerseys this 1969 team signed Cubs banner has a total of 34 signatures, 3 more than my jersey above. I started this project before the jersey and it includes John Hairston (a toughie) Alec Distaso (now deceased) and Yosh Kawano (equipment manager..didn't think him appropriate on the jersey).

Nice stuff.

Jerseys are about the only thing off-limits for me as a collector. I prefer to wear them and not get them signed.

1957 Braves Mitchell & Ness signed by Hank Aaron

Nice thing about this sig is that it has a full HANK. Usually it looks like HAL.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I have other jerseys too.
Ernie Banks, Harmon Killebrew, Frank Robinson, Ron Santo (stat jersey pretty much), Peyton Manning.

Signed hats too.
Luis Aparicio, Warren Spahn, Carlton Fisk, Eddie Mathews, Harmon Killebrew, Don Newcombe (cool sig), 1969 game used Rich Nye (have his game cleats signed too).
If you want me to post any of em let me know.

Agreed with not being able to wear them, but they look so good as framed pieces. The only problem I have is the cost- an authentic jersey alone runs 100-150, not even including the signature.

True about the cost being expensive. I guess that means you should be pretty passionate about what that autographed piece means to you before you make the investment. Like anything else in the hobby, do it because you like/love it...... not for it's value. The value is in your appreciation of the piece, not it's expense in dollars and cents.

Definitely. If you try to get everyone on a jersey, its gonna be another mortgage lol. Unless you use replica Jerseys which are still pricey, and dont look as good.

Here are a few of the signed jerseys.

1969 Home Mitchell & Ness Ron Santo

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

1969 Cubs Road Ernie Banks

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

A little note on the 1969 Cubs Mitchell & Ness jerseys. If you look at the Cubbie shoulder patch on my jerseys vs. the Cubbie patches on CoachK's jerseys you will notice a difference. That is because of the keen eye of another fellow 1969 collector and friend of mine. A few years back M&N was at the Cubs convention. My friend mentioned to their representative that their 1969 Cub arm patches were incorrect. We provided her with the photographic proof that the logo used in 1969 and earlier had ears that were round.... Mickey mouse shaped if you will. The logo they were using is a style used on later vintage jerseys. Since they pride themselves on their merchandise being authentic to the period, they made the logo change. If not for Wayne's keen eye M&N would still be selling 1969 jerseys with 1970's arm patch logos.

Glenn Beckert Game Used Old Timers Jersey

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And while not actually a jersey, this is basically the Cardinals jersey logo mounted on a board. They were sold this way by a company in the past, forget the company name. I think they were board mounted to skirt some of the licensing fees. Anyway this is a St. Louis Cardinals jersey piece signed by Cardinals players with their numbers retired.

Ozzie Smith #1
Red Schoendeinst #2
Stan Musial #6
Enos Country Slaughter #9
Lou Brock #20
Bob Gibson #45

(Ken Boyer #14, Dizzy Dean #17 and August Busch #85 were already dead)
I still need to add Whitey Herzog #24 and Bruce Sutter #42 to finish the project up.

AAGPBL (A League of Their Own Jersey)

Last summer, the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) tour made its way into San Diego. It was aboard the USS Nimitz on San Diego bay and 40+ players showed up for the event. The evening included an exclusive showing of the movie A League of Their Own inside the museum/aircraft hanger, a Q&A session with audience particpation, and autograph stations to get many of the women players (many in their mid-70's to early 90's). It was a GREAT event. I took the jersey to get signed and found out something interesting about it (I purchased the jersey years ago at a local swapmeet).

Several of the former AAGPBL players who signed the jersey recognized it as one which was given to cast members and those affiliated with the movie's production. Lois Youngen, Shirley Burkovich, and Maybelle Blair (all former players and those who assisted with the movie's production) said they had the same jersey at home and showed me the tags and markings on it which matched their own! After hearing that, the jersey immediately became one of my holy grails!!! Not bad for a swapmeet purchase...[/size]

Thanks Coach, it cost me BIG $$$ to have the Everett jersey framed. But what the heck, it's worth it to me.
