Offers People Make

Post by Guest on Thu Aug 22, 2013 12:31 pm

I have been posting my doubles as well as items/projects I just don't care for more anymore as I really fine tune my collection. They are for trade, and not for sale. Just not in this hobby to make money....that's not what I'm about and people find that hard to believe, but that's another topic.

I always post that my items are for trade and what I'm looking for. If I can post what I have for trade and what I'm looking for, you should be able to post what you have to offer. Don't ask me what I'm looking for when I stated what I'm looking for. Don't offer me money, specifically when I say for trade only.....but if you offer money, at least try to tempt me......unlike this guy:

$25? Really? All guys from Chicago should understand my frustration.....this is a full Urlacher signature that he doesn't give anymore...and $25? Wow. I am the first to say that most collectors over value their items too much...but I'm not off on this one.

If I don't trade my items, it'll pass on my kids to figure out what to do with. Rant over.

There is a difference between being cheap and insulting someone. Some people don't know where that line is drawn.

Not defending an idiot, but anyone with skills in negotiating will make their initial offer a pretty low one. You have to leave yourself room to come up, without getting near the asking price.

You never know the other person's situation. I'll explain more for a fee.

Anyway, Carney should know damn well that A. You don't sell stuff and B. $25 shipped is unlikely to be accepted. Bad Carney.

I'm the king of the low ball, believe me. But, when I say that they're for trade only, why insult me with the offer? At least tempt me with something reasonable.....

I just traded 3 game used bats (Quentin AZ, Salty ATL and McClouth PIT) for Randy Wells Cubs cleats and signed ROMLBs of Matt Moore, Jameson Taillon and Yoenis Cespedes.

Some might think I lost out value wise....so be it. Doesn't bother me. I'm always willing to give the other guy the edge on a trade if he has something I want and he something I want to make the trade work.

I just found the offer ludicrous as the mini helmet alone would sell for $25 shipped.

I agree...I always offer quite a bit lower than what the piece is worth because 99% of the time the seller will come back with a counteroffer.

Fact: Sellers always think their items are worth more than the buyers are wanting to pay.

I get low balled all of the time on ebay items...I just decline and move on. If they are reasonable then I'll counteroffer but I don't take the time to on lowballers.

Since Urlacher is retired and it isn't even a helmet that I can wear around to parties, the value must have gone down.

I will TRADE you $25 (1 x $20, 1 x $5) for it.

So does this mean your not accepting my offer, Desi? Or do I have to chase Urlacher down the street and make his car pull over?

I'll have to pass. Just not worth energy I'll have to expend to get it out to you.

Guess I'll just pass it along to my kids along with the other Urlacher items.
