When I got my multi signed Cubs jersey framed for my Make-A-Wish charity event... it cost about $500.00.

But that was at an expensive framing shop and it was done in a shadow box.

I would suggest shadow boxes or at least 2 layers of matte board in a regular frame... which is going to increase the price. You do NOT want the autograph on the jersey to be up against the glass.

I have yet to frame any of my jerseys.

Frame for jersey

Post by tk2323 on Tue Feb 28, 2012 7:02 pm

I live in Dubuque Iowa. A local shop ran a 10 yr anniversary sale two years ago. They are very good at framing pretty much everything. I dropped off 18 jerseys over the last two years and I get charged the same price of $187 after tax ! Most places want 400-600 each.

Wallstars framing does a spectacular job for the money. They have offices in Oklahoma and Kansas City but items can be dropped off, and picked up, at shows they do in Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis and Houston. They are cheaper than your average local framer and have worlds more experience handling your valuable memorabilia. Check out examples at their website.

I'm dropping off 3 jerseys at my framer on Thursday. His prices are less than anything else I've seen posted. I'll update later this week on exact price.

Here are a couple jerseys and photos I recently got framed at Framers Alley in Park Ridge. The guy who owns the shop is a good guy and is also an autograph collector. He takes care of the local autograph community and will hook you up with a great price. He uses top of the line materials including UV glass and acid free matboard. I'm not going to post an exact price of what I paid but it is WAY less then $400 for a jersey. I would highly recommend him and you will not be disappointed, I guarantee that.

Been going to Jon for over 5 years. I have saved literally thousands of dollars. I would never post the prices he gives me, but it's sick when you compare it to any other framing price anywhere.

I think framing is a lot like other purchases, in that, you tend to get what you pay for. I think the framing done by Wallstars is substantially more creative and pleasing to the eye than framing done by most other framers. There is definitely a price to be paid for this quality, but I believe the difference in price is far outweighed by the quality received. Don't get me wrong, I don't see anything wrong with the examples shown, I just believe these to be superior. They are much more than a jersey encased in a frame.

You get what you pay for unless you have an amazing hook up with a frame shop.

I tend to prefer jerseys done by themselves, with maybe an 8x10 or a logo patch from the team, opposed to a ton of items in one frame. I like the focus to be on the jersey. I think they look nice both ways, but think less is more with my particular collection.

While WallStars does amazing work... I agree with FF on that one!

And that's what makes the world go around.... And why all these places are in business. There's room out there for all different formats and styles. And like I believe is also true with what you collect, do it because YOU like it and not what anyone else thinks. After all, this hobby is for your enjoyment.

One thing that you should ask whenever getting a jersey framed is how they attach the jersey to the backing board? A lot of frame shops sew the entire jersey to the backing board. This gives it a nice look once it is framed but if you ever want to remove it from the frame you will see the outline of the stitching all around the jersey.
