In-Person (IP) Autographing Discussion

Post by coachk28 on Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:39 pm

First topic message reminder :

Since we have a couple threads dedicated to TTM graphing. I thought I would start one for In-Person (IP) autograph collecting.

Do you go to public signings, big sports autograph conventions, or hunt players down at games or practice?

Discuss everything that is in person autographing... your successes, failures, tips, experiences, etc. here!!!

Thanks, A lot of NBA stars can be buttholes, especially the big ones. Chauncey signed for every single person waiting for him after warmups. Though everyone ive asked says Kevin Durant is the nicest superstar and doesn't leave till everyone gets an auto.

Went to the GTSM Dallas show again earlier today went to get an Aikman graph plus hof inscription (wife wanted to meet him) plus a few others. So let my wife take the helmet and I came along to take pictures. My wife showed Aikman where to sign and just as he was about to Emmitt Smith comes from behind the curtains and startles Aikman they hugged and chatted a bit when he got back to signing the helmet he signed on a different spot and forgot the inscription, luckily we noticed it right away and the GTSM guy remembered we did have a ticket.

1 of 2 items I had signed...this is what happens when You don't bring your own marker. I was the first in the Drew Pearson line for a silver graph skipped really bad on the D.

I got Jamal Crawford Last weekend too. He signed some of my custom art I made. I really like him a lot and he was a kind guy.

Here is the ridiculous long line I waited in in downtown LA (not the safest place) But it was worth it in the end, and I stood in line next to a really cool guy who knew his NBA stuff.

Texans draft party included Brooks Reed and Darryl Sharpton JJ Moses.

While Sharpton was a late cancellation and the team was out to squelch anybody who wanted to get anything else other than their provided crap promotional stuff signed, in the end it didn't matter. Since there was low turn out, the players signed everything and anything, and Moses was excited to talk to me about his time in the NFLE. A really nice experience. Reed even laughed at me when I called him Shawn Michaels, and remarked about the 4 other cards that he signed for me.

In 1 week from today, I will be going to the Long Island Ducks game hoping to meet Dontrelle Willis. Too bad Vladimir Guerrero signed with the Ducks and hasn't bothered to show up, same with Carlos Zambrano, but he signed with the Phillies. The giveaway next week is "pregame autograph session" so we will see what happens.

Heck yeah! Houston 610 Fan Fest 2013 was a great success! I ended up with 33 autographs of 9 players.
Jacob Green, Haywood Jeffires, Barret Robbins, Drew Pearson, Richmond Webb, Keenan McCardell, Seth Payne, Ted Johnson and...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Tiki Barber! I was really pleased with Barber and Jeffires because both are sub 10% respondents TTM, and it was all free on top of that. Met LMT down there, and he was able to grab Brooks Reed as well, even though he was 'only taking photos with fans'. Bow Pretty sweet haul I'd say!

Colt McCoy was signing copies of his new book at a local store in Austin. I got lucky and got his autograph on a book and a card. Thankfully he was kind enough to sign the card as well, even though the signing stated that they were only signing books.

Boom goes the dynamite again. The GMC Texas tour has been a pretty good success for me. I again had a nice haul. I'm pretty much DONE with Priest Holmes. A great signer, he chatted with me for about 5 minutes while he signed 10 cards for me. (The test drive vouchers entitled me to 1 autograph per test drive, so I earned it.)
I lucked out on Roy Williams, but hey, I already got him last month so it softened the blow. This also allowed me to stake out a spot in line and grab DEMARCUS WARE on a card. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's signings, with Ricky Williams and Earl Campbell coming out.

Here are two juicy cards:

Today at the Texas gmc event I was able to get Ricky on 5 cards. He recognizes me now and was pranking the crowd wearing his incarnate word gear, but i caught him. He was really cool. Earl was not signing outside items but he did sign their preapproved gmc photo. It wasn't bad and it was a full Sig.

I dont do womans basketball or basketball really for that matter but when its in my back yard I believe its graphing rules that you must attend. Also looking for an image or 2 to get signed.
