Your Historic Auto(s)

Post by stdrwt11 on Sun Mar 03, 2013 12:37 am

What is your best historic piece? I would say mine is a 16x20 signed photo of the Miracle on Ice signed by 19 guys.

Good question. I would say something signed by a player or players dealing with history. Ralph Branca shot heard round the world, a no hitter signed, perfect game, something that was considered historic. After thinking about I guess you could say almost any auto you have is historic haha.

I wouldnt call this one "historic" but its still pretty neat!

Jennie Finch signed game used pitching rubber from the 2010 MLB Allstar Softball Game.

In this game... Jennie Finch became the first female player to hit a homerun over the wall!!! lol

Monica Abbott wore these cleats during the 2012 season... she wore these when she threw one of her no hitters!

So I was thinking about this thread some and I guess I do have 2 items that may fit in.

I have a copy of the Ken Starr report to congress signed by Ken Starr. It was the report turned in during the impeachment proceedings.

Then I have another copy of the report signed by all House Judiciary members as well as Cheif Counsel Thomas Mooney who personally drafted the articles of impeachment.

Here are a few of mine...none of real monetary value...but I think are unique pieces...

These 2 are signed by Robert Buchanon. He's one of 2 remaning witnesses to the Hindenburg crash. At the time, he was one of the grounds crew...at the time in his teens. I tracked him down, gave him a call and he agreed to sign for a few bucks and I was more than happy to do that.

This is a copy of the "Ask Not" speech that was given by JFK. Ted Sorensen was a speech writer at the time for JFK and is often credited with writing this speech...even though he always jokingly denied it up til his death in 2010. I rec'd this TTM not long before he died.

This is signed by Ira Sandperl. He was a big civil rights activist with MLK back in the 60's. I tracked him down through his website that his daughter manages and was able to get his address. Just read that he's in bad health and has next to no income...sad to see people like this forgotten.

These 2 are signed by John Lewis who was one of the original Freedom Riders back in the 60's. He is also the last remaining speaker from the March on Washington where MLK gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.
