Pacific Legends Project

Post by TheAutoMan on Fri Feb 03, 2012 10:05 pm

I remember my 15th birthday I asked for the complete set of the 1988 and 1989 Pacific Legends Card Set. Since that very day I have been active in trying to get every Pacific Legends card signed that I can from that set. Here is what I have:

1988
#1 Red Schoendienst
#2 Ralph Kiner
#3 Robin Roberts
#4 Jim Perry
#5 Jim Bouton
#6 Tom Tresh
#7 Roy Sievers
#8 Al Dark
#9 Fergie Jenkins
#10 Bobby Thomson
#11 Sparky Anderson
#12 Bill Virdon
#13 Bob Turley
#14 Duke Snider
#15 Bobby Shantz
#16 Mark Fidrych
#17 Jerry Koosman
#18 Mike McCormack
#19 Lew Burdette
#20 George Kell
#21 Bobby Doerr
#22 Bobby Richardson
#23 Carl Erskine
#24 Bob Friend
#25 Wally Moon
#26 Moose Skowron
#27 Jim Bunning
#28 Orlando Cepeda
#29 Del Crandall
#30 Rollie Fingers
#31 Al Kaline
#32 Johnny Podres
#33 Dick Groat
#34 Johnny Bench
#35 Frank Howard

Now for 1989

#1 Ed Kranepool
#2 Al Hrabosky
#3 Jim Davenport
#4 Buddy Lewis
#5 Virgil Trucks
#6 Andy Pafko
#7 Herb Score
#8 Brooks Robinson
#9 Phil Cavarretta
#10 Claude Osteen
#11 Tito Francona
#12 Billy Pierce
#13 Tony La Russa
#14 Glenn Beckert
#15 Roger Craig
#16 Jose Cardenal
#17 Bobby Doerr
#18 Frank Thomas
#19 Sam McDowell
#20 Bob Feller
#21 Bert Campaneris
#22 Gary Peters
#23 Joe Nuxhall
#24 Rich Rollins
#25 Ernie Harwell
#26 George Foster
#27 Elroy Face
#28 Ned Garver
#29 Bill Campbell
#30 Vida Blue
#31 Milt Pappas
#32 Randy Hundley
#33 Whitey Ford
#34 Phil Niekro
#35 Gary Bell
#36 Jon Matlack
#37 Joel Horlen
#38 Burt Hooton

Perhaps I should be a little more aggressive. Maybe I need to buy online. I was too late on Santo since I already him and didn't pay for him. I tried at Cubs Convention but failed. I also missed out on a Feller card. Maybe if Monte Irvin or Brooks Robinson come back I should try to get them again.

73 cards is not so bad. Here is the problem: a lot of them died when I was really young or before I got into the hobby. I missed out on sending to Hank Bauer TTM (Well I did but I should have sent earlier since I got him before) I didn't send to Shag Crawford and regret it. Hopefully one day I can complete the entire set. I doubt it though.

It will be hard for Monte as well. I talked to him on the phone for his 92 birthday. He lives in houston and couldnt even make the Tri Star show. My dads friend is good friends with him and went to houston for the show to pick up ball and photos to bring to him to sign. The best thing is probably to mail it to him. His sig is starting not to be as smooth as it used to be. Good Luck
